Tubeless Tires are Not Puncture Resistant Instead Buy Quality Puncture Resistant Tires

Tubeless tires are NOT as effective as Puncture Resistant Tires or the foam insert from the brand Tannus Armour. Tubeless tires are NOT for recreational cycling. I do not think they are good for any cyclist. Just Say NO. Also say NO to drugs. I would recommend Tire Liners rather that tubeless. During the pandemic bike shops were out of control. Mostly the high-end shops. Telling recreational cyclist that tubeless was superior. It is a fad or trend meant for increasing social status among the elitist bike snob divas. Just because a product is expensive does not mean it is effective & quality. I remember pumping up a tubeless tire on a ladies high end road bicycle & Stans No Tubes was just squirting out of a hole in the tire. Not clogging or sealing the hole. I informed her that the sealant was not effective and she should use puncture resistant tires for her 700c size. Such as the Schwalbe Marathon Plus. But she was defensive in switching tires even though I recommended she buy them online. I would have made no money from the sale. I would only make money installing them. I just wanted her to get less flats. Another incident was when a recreational cyclist came up to me on the bike path requesting that I inflate his tubeless tire. He was riding a nice full suspension mountain bicycle. There was a large 1 inch cut on his tire. I told him before I inflated the tire that it would not seal and that he needed a new tire. He insisted and after failing to inflate the tire. The customer asked for a tube to be inserted. I inserted the tube and a piece of rubber to cover the hole from inside the tire so he could get home & take the bike to the shop when he had time. Sealant only clogs really small holes. If you hit something like a nail then you are getting a flat tire. I would recommend SLIME sealant rather that Stans NO Tubes because slime does not dry out. I only insert slime into tubed tires for customers because they want it.

I am writing this because I do not want to see people walking their bicycles home. I want to see more people cycling and I know that people get discouraged from cycling. Especially after they paid a bike shop for a not effective repair. I recommend spending the money so you can enjoy the ride. My recommendations will significantly PREVENT or reduce the chances of you getting a flat. But will not guarantee it. The only tire that will never get a flat is a solid tire but those significantly reduce your speed or rolling resistance. Tannus Armour does sell a foam insert that is designed to be installed with sealant but I do NOT recommend it.

I made a long format video on the puncture resistant tires that I recommend. The models are from different brands. Most brands will make a very durable and puncture resistant tire but will not advertise it as much. Probably because it is not considered fashionable or cool in the elite or high end cycling community. But the tire is great for recreational riding & commuting. Most puncture resistant tires only come in a multi tread. So if you want puncture resistant knobby tires then use a foam insert like Tannus USA Currently I am using Kenda Quick Drumlin Tires. They are thick, wide and have a lot of tread for a multi tread tire.
